Design your own shoes, then win them!

Who hasn't dreamt about designing their own shoes? I know I have. I remember drawing shoe designs with felt tips on the kitchen table when I was five...and getting thoroughly told off for it.

Unless you're a sleb who is about to get invited to design your own range of shoes for 'INSERT BRAND HERE', you've probably come to terms with the fact you will only ever wear shoes designed by people in far away places, with girls up and down the country adorning their feet with the exact same creation as you.

It's a fact of life, we don't get to design our own clothes and accessories. Humpf.

But what if you could?

Well there's a very special London based company that does allow you to design your own shoes. You've probably heard me bang on about them on Twitter - they're called Upper Street.

I designed my own shoes with them recently and they are already my very favourite pair...and they've got a LOT of competition from my other shoes.

I came up with lots of designs (the shoe designer tool on the Upper Street website is dangerously addictve, you have been warned) but I finally setlled on a nude and green snakeskin pair.

This was the design..

And here they are in flesh!

I love them so very much, they are everything I want in a shoe and fit PERFECTLY. I now want to design all my shoes, which wil be interesting to explain to my bank manager.

A lot of you have responded with the same levels of "OMG DESIGN YOUR OWN SHOES" excitement as I did when I found out about Upper Street, so we're gonna hold a competition :D

The challenge? To design a pair of shoes.

The prize? The shoes you designed!

To enter, just go to the Upper Street website and head to the 3D Shoe Designer (you'll need flash, so you can't do this from your iPhone/iPad) and start designing.

Once you've designed your perfect pair of shoes, click 'Send to a friend' and send the design to win@wiwt.com before midnight on Sunday the 19th of August.

Then the Upper Street team and I will judge the entries and a shortlist of ten will be published to our Facebook page on Thursday the 24th of August.

And then you guys will cast your votes and choose which pair of shoes gets created!

Not only is this comp the most fun to enter ever (DESIGN YOUR OWN SHOES!) the prize is worth up to £350, so it's a goodun.

We cannot wait to see what you create!
