Richard Nicoll AW12 at LFW

One of the best things about working with Vodafone VIP is that Vodafone have an amazing partnership with Richard Nicoll. They worked together across Spring Summer 12 (Richard Nicoll's SS12 collection was one of my absolute highlights last season, see pics and video here) and collaborated during Vogue's Fashion Night Out. The partnership has continued into AW12 and yesterday morning Richard unveiled the (quite frankly unbelievable) re-charging tote bag he designed that splendidly fuses technology and design. I was priviledged enough to get the first look at it, as you can read about here. And then later yesterday evening Richard showed his pre-Fall collection at an exclusive show at Somerset House for Vodafone VIP customers. It was awesome, as you may have seen from my tweets...and as you will see from the blog post I shall write immediately after this.

But back to yesterday morning! Richard chose not to do a traditional catwalk show, but to host a more intimate presentation of the AW12 collection. This was a an amazing way to present the collection, models walked around a catwalk for three hours and press and buyers dropped in and out. Backstage and 'front stage' were all one space, with make-up etc going on right in front of us. The entire collection was on rails around the walls so we could touch/feel/examine the pieces up close. Oh and they were shooting their lookbook whilst all this was going on too - well why not? The models are already there dolled up and dressed up and ready to be snapped!

I spoke to Richard and he was really excited about presenting in this more intimate and relaxed format - the interview was filmed for Vodafone so I'll be posting it here as sooooon as I have it, but won't give it all away now. One thing I did love though was that Richard is calling the fab colours in the collection after industrial-esque names - 'hazard orange' and 'safety yellow' for example. LOVE.

The inspirations for the AW12 collection were “Woody Allen's 1978 film Interiors, commercial pragmatism and purity.”

The collection really is wearable, which is the point of it really. It's practical and all the pieces can be combined together to get lots of different looks. A wardrobe that works for you, if you will.

There's video to follow but here are some of the pics I took yesterday...

Video very soon! Promise! xxx (video now live here)
